Multi Faith Weeks and Study
At our school, the study of other cultures is an essential part of enabling all pupils to flourish within our theologically rooted Christian vision. We believe that every person is created in the image of God and deserves dignity, respect, and understanding. Therefore, our curriculum is intentionally designed to help pupils learn about, appreciate, and value the rich diversity of cultures, faiths, and worldviews that make up both our local community and the wider world.
In line with SIAMS expectations, our provision promotes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, supporting them to grow in empathy, curiosity, and respect. This includes developing:
Knowledge of, and respect for, different people’s faiths, feelings, and values, ensuring pupils understand global and cultural diversity.
A sense of enjoyment and fascination in learning about themselves, others, and the world around them, encouraging openness and engagement with difference.
A deeper awareness of “the concept of others,” nurturing compassion and care for people whose lives, experiences, and cultures differ from their own. Our Christian vision calls us to live well together and to act with justice and responsibility. As highlighted in the SIAMS Framework, the curriculum must reflect the vision that shapes our school community and enables pupils to flourish within it. Through exploring diverse cultures, pupils are encouraged to recognise and challenge injustice, appreciate global interdependence, and understand their role as responsible global citizens.
By embedding the study of other cultures throughout our curriculum and wider school life, we prepare pupils to contribute positively to society, celebrate diversity, and live out Christian values of love, respect, and service in all they do.
